We also offer some fabric kits with all the fabrics needed to make several versions of this Christmas & Thanksgiving purse.
This pattern is easy/medium level. The pattern provides the outline designs for the Snowman and the Pumpkin versions but you can easily adapt this to your own design by creating new appliques such as a flower or initial.
Included in this ebook pattern are pattern pieces to print, detailed instructions including directions for simple ragging of the edges and tons of full color pictures to guide and encourage you.
Homespun fabric is great to craft and sew with because the yard dyed fabric is the same on both sides. There is no front or back. Tear your leftover homespun scraps into strips to embellish your other craft projects with cute torn bows or browse our weekend project ideas for a fun way to recycle your leftovers.
Materials List for Holiday Bag
**It is recommended that you use cotton homespun fabric for any rag stitching project. Regular quilting cotton or printed cotton will not fray as well. Remember that homespun fabric has no front or back side. Both are the same.
Snowman Bag:
3/4 yd. - main fabric
44” x 12” - felt or stiff batting
1 ¼ yd - ½ inch cotton cording
Velcro or Magnetic Closure
1 large wooden button, approximate 1” – 1.5” size
5” x 7” – green homespun scrap for Tree
1” x 11” – homespun scrap for Snowman Scarf
3” x 4” – yellow or gold scrap for Star
3.5” x 6” – off white homespun scrap for Snowman
Small bit of orange scrap fabric for snowman’s nose
3 small buttons for Snowman’s belly
Fine tip Sharpie to draw eyes & mouth
