This basic snowscape pattern can be adapted to many different variations! The product photos show some of the possibilities. Included in the pattern are the basic instructions and 1 snowman, 1 star and 3 different tree shapes to print. Then use your own imagination to design your unique snowscape. The basic background is made with homespun in the typical rag style construction and it is then applied to a purchased 11 x 14 canvas for structure. Below is a suggested materials list for this project. Most of these applique elements are so small that it's likely you could have remnants in your homespun stash to make this with.
- 1 homespun fat quarter for the sky
- 1 homespun fat quarter for the snow
- Various green homespun fat quarters or remnants for the tree(s)
- 1 white or off-white homespun fat quarter or remnant for the snowman
- 1 gold color homespun fat quarter or remnant for the star
- 1 tiny piece of orange fabric for the snowman nose. Because you really don’t want this to fray, a regular woven cotton is better here instead of homespun.
- 1 small piece of red or bright homespun fabric for the snowman’s scarf
- Glue gun & disappearing quilting marker
- 11” x 14” purchased canvas
- 1 knitted sock for the stocking cap (Old socks will work. You’ll just use a piece of the top edge.)
- Optional: Purchased braided fabric garland for border or remnants to make your own fabric braid
- Optional: Purchased wood cutout text approximately 1/8” thick and 4” wide. Many options available from Etsy.
